Just two ideas from me today:
- Changing your mind is a systemic process. When you're young or don't know what you're talking about, it's easy to latch on to the first reasonable-sounding argument. But, as you hear new evidence, each argument is merely a new data point to add to the collection of world views you've encountered.
- The challenge here is objectively gauging the value of each argument and preventing yourself from ever being exposed to arguments that oppose your worldview.
- In short, one argument shouldn't change your mind, but if a large group of experts can back themselves up with data, maybe it's time to hear them out.
- One day of mental clarity is priceless.
- If you can, schedule one day with nothing to do once a quarter, or once a month to ask yourself how your current endeavors align with your goals and values.
- In addition, think about yourself and how you fit into the community of people around you. Who's beneficial to your state of mind? Who's life are you making better?
See you next week,
-Ethan
